Type of Material

Acrylic or Polymethyl Methacrylate (PMMA)

Acrylic or Polymethyl Methacrylate (PMMA)

Acrylic or Polymethyl Methacrylate (PMMA)

  • Acrylic is a transparent thermoplastic material popular for use in optical devices and products as a lightweight, break-resistant substitute for glass.
  • Acrylic is frequently used in sheet form to make items like mirrors and plexiglass.
  • Transparent plastic can be tinted, luminous, bulletproof, UV-tolerant, non-glare, anti-static, and many other things.
  • Acrylic sheeting has unlimited uses and is seventeen times more impact resistant than glass and polycarbonate sheeting combined.
  • It is also simpler to handle and produce.

Polycarbonate (PC)

Acrylic or Polymethyl Methacrylate (PMMA)

Acrylic or Polymethyl Methacrylate (PMMA)

  • Polycarbonate is a great engineering plastic that is strong, stable, and transparent. It is as clear as glass and 250 times stronger than steel.
  • Clear polycarbonate sheets are 30 times stronger than acrylic and are simple to work with, mould, and thermo- or cold-form. The inherent design flexibility of polycarbonate plastic allows for tremendous strength and impact resistance.
  • Polycarbonate plastic sheets, in contrast to glass or acrylic, can be cut or cold-formed on the spot without pre-forming and fabrication.
  • Numerous items, including as greenhouses, DVDs, sunglasses, police riot gear, and more, are made of polycarbonate plastic.

Polypropylene (PP)

Acrylic or Polymethyl Methacrylate (PMMA)

Polypropylene (PP)

  • The second-most manufactured synthetic plastic in the world, this plastic is a thermoplastic polymer. Since polypropylene is one of the world's most flexible thermoplastics, it is widely used and incredibly popular.
  • PP is more rigid than PE, yet it is still flexible. Under constant pressure, it won't break.
  • Polypropylene sheets are used to produce laboratory equipment, automobile components, medical gadgets, and food containers because they are strong, flexible, heat- and acid-resistant, and inexpensive. Just a few examples.

Polyethylene (PE)

Polyethylene Terephthalate (PETE or PET)

Polypropylene (PP)

Polyethylene, the most widely used plastic on the planet, is produced in a range of densities. The physical characteristics of the final plastic are unique due to the various densities of polyethylene. Polyethylene is therefore present in a wide range of goods.

The four standard densities of polyethylene are as follows:

  • Polyethylene Low Density (LDPE)

Shopping bags, plastic bags, clear food containers, disposable packaging, and other items are made from polyethylene at this density because it is ductile.

  • Polyethylene Medium Density (MDPE)

Since MDPE has more polymer chains and is denser, it is frequently used in gas pipes, shrink film, carrier bags, screw closures, and other products.

  • Polyethylene High Density (HDPE)

HDPE plastic sheeting, which is more robust than both LDPE and MDPE, is used in items like plastic bottles, water and sewer piping, snowboards, boats, and folding chairs.

  • Polyethylene with a very high molecular weight (UHMWPE)

Compared to HDPE, UHMWPE is not much denser. Due to the extraordinarily long polymer chains of this polyethylene plastic, it is substantially more abrasion resistant than HDPE. UHMWPE is used in artificial ice skating rinks, hydraulic seals, bearings, and biomaterial for hip, knee, and spine implants because of its high density and low friction qualities.

Polyethylene Terephthalate (PETE or PET)

Polyethylene Terephthalate (PETE or PET)

  • PET is the fourth-most produced synthetic plastic and is the most widely used thermoplastic resin in the polyester family.
  • Excellent chemical resistance to water and organic chemicals is provided by the easily recyclable polyethylene terephthalate. It is almost impervious to breaking and has an impressively high strength to weight ratio.
  • This polymeric substance is found in many everyday items that we use, including carbon nanotubes, food and liquid containers, garment fibres, and glass fibre for engineering resins.

Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC)

Polyethylene Terephthalate (PETE or PET)

Polyethylene Terephthalate (PETE or PET)

  • PVC, the third-most often produced synthetic plastic polymer, can be created with rigid or flexible qualities. It is renowned for its capacity to meld with many substances.
  • For instance, expanded PVC sheets are made of foamed polyvinyl chloride and are perfect for exhibits, store displays, and kiosks.
  • PVC in its rigid form is frequently used in building materials, doors, windows, bottles, non-food packaging, and other items.
  • The softer and more flexible form of PVC is used in plumbing supplies, apparel, medical tubing, and other related products thanks to the addition of plasticizers like phthalates.

Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene (ABS)

Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene (ABS)

Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene (ABS)

  • Styrene, acrylonitrile, and polybutadiene are polymerized to produce ABS, which is strong, flexible, glossy, highly processable, and impact resistant.
  • It can be produced with a maximum width of 1600mm and a thickness range of 200 microns to 5mm.
  • ABS plastic sheeting is commonly utilised in the automotive and refrigeration sectors, but it is also found in items like boxes, gauges, protective equipment, luggage, and children's toys.
